About

Hello, I’m Vikki Parlour, and I’m the founder of The Therapy Parlour. I am a BACP-registered counsellor and psychotherapist, and a BABCP-accredited Cognitive Behavioural Psychotherapist with postgraduate training in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and specialist experience in trauma-focused CBT within the charity sector.

I have worked with adults and young people experiencing a wide range of difficulties, including anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, PTSD, trauma, relationship problems, abuse, bereavement, and long-standing emotional difficulties. My experience includes supporting individuals who have experienced complex and distressing life events, and I am particularly mindful of working in ways that feel safe and collaborative.

My therapeutic approach is warm, compassionate, and non-judgemental. I believe that everyone’s story is unique, and therapy should be tailored to the individual rather than a “one size fits all” approach. I offer counselling, psychotherapy, and CBT as separate but complementary approaches, and we can discuss together which may be the best fit for you and your goals.

CBT can be particularly helpful for understanding how thoughts, emotions, physical sensations, and behaviours interact, and for developing practical strategies to manage difficulties. When appropriate, I also offer trauma-focused CBT, which aims to safely process traumatic experiences, reduce ongoing symptoms, and update unhelpful beliefs that may have developed following trauma.

Alongside structured CBT work, I also value the importance of a strong therapeutic relationship and creating a space where you feel heard and supported. Whether you are looking for short-term, focused therapy or longer-term, exploratory work, we will work at a pace that feels right for you.

I am committed to working ethically and safely, and I regularly attend supervision and continuing professional development to ensure that my practice remains up to date and in line with professional standards.
